ITO Heater Glass

Diamond Coatings produce a variety of ITO heater glass options for a wide range of uses and industries. Most well known and used in car windscreens as a de-icing mechanism, our industry-leading ITO heater glass can also be used in much harsher conditions.

Diamond Coatings produces a wide range of coated and ITO products, therefore, we will go into detail about what ITO glass actually is and how it could be beneficial for you and your business.

What Is ITO Heater Glass?

Diamond Coatings ITO heater glass is a visually transparent substrate that is coated with thin films of transparent conductive indium tin oxide (ITO) at the required sheet resistance.

Sending a current through the ITO coating generates the necessary heat to expand liquid crystal display’s operating temperatures within cold environments; de-ice/anti-ice, de-fog/anti-fog optis/optical displays.

Applications of ITO Heater Glass

Diamond ITO heater glass is incredibly durable and is, therefore, able to operate in harsh environments to anti-ice/fog windows and displays. Our glass is widely used for:

  • Military Command/Control Screens, Ground Vehicles & Periscopes
  • Naval/Marine & Aviation Hangar, Cargo Area & Flight Deck Lighting and Flight Deck Equipment
  • Industrial Control/Command Screens, IVF Workstations, Research & Development and Many Other Applications

Transparent ITO heater glass can be produced on a diversity of substrates including:

  • BK7 Glass
  • Standard or Toughened Float Glass (Soda Lime)
  • Quartz or Sapphire

Plastic Transparent ITO Heaters

Diamond Coatings also produces transparent ITO heaters on substrates other than glass that can be used in additional situations where glass is not practical. For example, where glass might not be practical or safe for weight or impact resistance reasons. To find out more about these products click here.

In addition, all ITO heater types can be:

  • Combined with Index-Matched ITO or AR coatings and/or EMC filters to reduce reflection further & optimise their optical performance.
  • Provided with epoxy ink borders, screened graphics or dielectric inks.
  • Supplied with fired silver-frit bus bars to permit stronger solderable bus bar connections.
