Our ITO Coated Glass Slides
Consisting of soda lime float (SLF) glass (thickness: 1.1 mm) and featuring a barrier (25 nm, silicon oxide – or SiO2) coating, our glass slides for R&D, medical and science applications are coated with a premium-quality, transparent and highly conductive ITO (indium tin oxide) coating.
About SLF Glass
The most commonly used type of glass in the production of slides (due to its comparatively low processing cost), SLF glass is created by drawing glass over molten tin basins – a process that typically results in the upper, air-facing side of the glass being somewhat flatter and smoother than its tin-facing lower side.
ITO Coatings UK can supply SLF glass:
- In standard, thermally and/or chemically toughened options
- Cut to sizes meeting customer-specific dimensional requirements

Why We Introduced the Barrier Coating
Capable of disrupting the performance of both the indium tin oxide and devices grown thereon, sodium (Na) ion diffusion is a common problem encountered with SLF glass sides. In addition to the detrimental effect this can have on the results of R&D, science and medical projects, it also reduces such slides’ quality and life span.
Positioned between the SLF glass and the ITO layer, the SiO2 layer we introduced to our slides inhibits this Na ion diffusion and thereby increases our ITO glass slides’ overall quality and their longevity, as well as, of course, ensuring the quality of projects’ results.
Available Grades & Sizes
ITO Coatings UK can currently provide ITO glass slides in the following grades:
- Standard Grade with 15 Ohms/sq ITO coating and 88% transmittance
- Standard Grade with 5 Ohms/sq ITO coating and 82% transmittance
- OLED Grade with 15 Ohms/sq ITO Coating and 86% transmittance
Please Note: The surface of our OLED Grade slides is smoother than that of our two standard grade slide options.
Standard sizes we currently hold in stock include:
- 20 x 10 mm
- 25 x 25 mm and
- 5 x 25 mm
Various other sizes (maximum size: 400 x 500 mm) can also be supplied upon request.
