Anti Reflection Coated Glass

Anti Reflection Coated Glass

Anti reflection coated glass is a useful and in demand option in many differing applications, such as retail store fronts, commercial buildings and within specialist medical wards for instance.

Other uses include within the aviation industry, sporting stadia, telescopes and for displaying artwork in museums and galleries. Glass reflections can be annoying at best and potentially dangerous at worst, so anti reflection coated glass is becoming more widely used.

Domestic use of anti reflection glass has also soared in recent years, with costs being relatively low to achieve zero reflections it has become a popular choice for displaying artwork and photographs within homes.

How can you achieve no reflection on glass?

We offer an industry leading anti reflection coating, which can be applied directly to glass (and plastic). We can also supply this coating on thin film either in roll or sheet format which can be applied easily to glass.

The reduction in reflections is achieved by cancelling out a specific wavelength of light. For an uncoated glass component, typically 4% of incident light would be reflected on each surface. When an anti-reflective optical coating is used, reflection can be reduced to less than 0.1%.

We are a specialist optical coatings company specialising in ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) and anti reflective coatings, supplying to a worldwide customer base for the last 2 decades.

Another important application of our anti reflection coating

This applies more to plastic than anti reflection coated glass, although glass also benefited from our coating. During the pandemic, safety screens were installed to offer a form of protection for people on both sides of the screen. These were installed in public environments that are usually well lit. The issue of reflections were clear to see.

We supplied both anti reflective glass and plastic screens to a number of businesses to assist with the vision issues. We also supplied our anti reflective clear sheets and rolls, which allowed screens already in place to be ‘retro-fitted’ with the anti reflective qualities.

At the same time, we also produced and manufactured our own safety visors, with the clear plastic visor offering essentially zero reflection – these were used by healthcare professionals globally.
